Dr. Terry Turner
Senior Pastor, Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church
The Mesquite Friendship Christian Academy (MFCA) is the fulfillment of an enduring dream attached to the necessity to provide a quality education for our children and youth. Statistically, data has revealed that children are better educated in the private school setting with committed teachers and smaller classroom sizes. MFCA has the goal of combining parental and home training with teacher and classroom educational instruction for a more complete education of our students (Political scientist Abigail Thernstrom and her historian husband Stephan Thernstrom, citing data from the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), have discovered that African Americans by the time they enter twelfth grade are “typically four years behind white and Asian students,” with Hispanics students achieving only marginally ahead of black students). Interpreted, black and Hispanic students are completing high school, on average, “with a junior high education”. It is our desire to counterbalance the extraordinary numbers of high school Americans, especially blacks and Hispanics that do not graduate high school. We realize the training of our youth in biblical and academic curriculums is an effort to prepare leaders that will brighten the future of America, Christian homes, families and churches. We pray that you will consider MFCA for your child’s elementary education and formative preparation for their future.
